A little about Nicky
Nicky’s photography and guiding is much more than a career; it is a way for her to channel her passion for Africa and to share the beauty and awe of Africa’s wild places with others, hopefully contributing to their continued existence. An adventurer by heart and creative by soul Nicky’s passion in deeply rooted in Africa. Currently driving through the Dark Continent in search of the ultimate experiences, images and memories in order to create a platform of destinations for other photographers and nature lovers to join. Nicky Silberbauer grew up in Cape Town, graduating at the Academy of Design and Photography in Stellenbosch, specialising in wildlife photography where she had an exhibition based on the relationship between humans and animals within urban environments. For six years she was based at some of the best lodges in South Africa including Singita and andbeyond, where she has gained the field guide qualifications and knowledge of the wildlife she loves to photograph. Since leaving the incredible life of being a field and photographic guide based in the Kruger National Park she began running photographic workshops and creating itineraries for her guest’s thoughout Africa. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience on both these subjects, and combined with her enthusiasm and witty sense of humor, she has understandably become a highly rated wildlife photographic guide. Understanding animal behaviour is one of the most critical aspects of capturing the perfect shot. Predicting movement, social interactions, and behavioural characteristics are what Nicky has become great at, through her passionate observations of the various species. Being able to predict what could happen, you often find yourself in the right spot at the right time in Nicky’s vehicle plus her interpreted facilitation with you has you ready and prepared to take great photographs. Over the last few years she has hosted professional photographers that return for her services and understands the requirements of any level of photography, professional or amateur. Should you be around the area of Cape Town be sure to have a look at some of her framed art at Exposure Gallery at the Biscuit Mall in Woodstock.
